Allahabad: A City Wherein Global Salutes The Local (Photo Feature Part 3)

I have no hesitation in admitting that Allahabad (ancient name Prayag) redefined my beingness. It made me down-to earth, allowing me to view life in its true shades. Although I tried my best to capture all the shades of Allahabad, I am sure I would have missed some beautiful locations. I hope  future writers would explore these untouched places in a colourful way. However, in the last part of the photo feature, I have shifted my attention from modern landscape of Allahabad to areas which still remind of the ancient times. Infrastructural bottlenecks prevented me from using state-of-the-art technology in capturing  the images and that made me bit depressed. However, now in the aftermath of the publication of photo features, I feel pretty satisfied that I still came to do some good work. These photo features are a tribute to great city Allahabad- my birthplace. A city that taught me how to emerge successful in rising above contradictions to have glimpse of the Absolute!

Such roads making their way through dusty colonies of Allahabad remind me of Varanasi! This road connects Anand Bhawan area with Katra. Katra is area very ppular among middle class section of Allahabad. It's also most favourite destination of student; after all, it lies close to Allahabad University :-)

Well, if a conscious reader of yours stature is saying so then I have little space for refutation!!! Varanasi features next in forthcoming photo feature..Please do have a look at it as well…However, I am glad that there was a successful culmination of photo features on Allahabad in three parts..It was a tiring rendezvous with the city but one which gave a real satisfaction..

Hi Arvind ….I’d just a look at your photo features, and…. got caught in! Wow, congrats. It’s really well done! Its really beautiful made. My eyes got like glued to the screen, like I would enter these places directly through it. In first part, first photo is an amazing start up! Really great shot with all the small clouds at sky and the other colors.

Then, soon I started to miss the colors a bit. Like you mentioned in 3rd part for getting a bit depressed; I got it, too, as it seemed allover the sun is missing. India without sun? Yet 🙂 got a bright smile! When in 3rd part later the sun came out and drew the scenes in light and fresh colors. YEEE…. I need to come back to these photo features soon as possible. In other words, I want to spend more time with it, having an even more closer view, more time with it. It’s nothing one can rush over, except the one isn’t interested in. Thank you so much for sharing it.

    Author’s Response:

It’s a great heartfelt observation on your part..Just imagine how much effort I had to put to get so many images from so many angles and that too at different places…..Average readers who are in hurry do not come to realize that..It’s a reader like you having elevated consciousness who comes to intercept true worth of such creative endeavours..I was depressed since I was aware of the fact that a better camera could have led to better results..Anyway, I used the resources that were in my possession with a great degree of perfection. That’s makes me pretty satisfied..I would love to put your words in the comment box of my post..Let other readers also come to read your view..Look forward to your views in future..

  13. Author’s words for Carmen Ampuero, Lima, Peru:

You know well Carmen that our next world war could either be for grains or for water..India has the luxury of being rich in natural resources. We have great rivers like Ganges, Yamuna, Brahmaputra, Kaveri ( Cauvery), Mahanadi, Krishna and etc. But we don’t realize their worth at all..Look how we have allowed buffaloes to swim in the river.Let me inform you Carmen that this river occupies such a exalted position in Hindu mythology…And still we are so casual in keeping it clean, keeping Ghats (banks) beautiful…In fact, Peru is also struggling hard to keep jungles safe…

  14. Author’s words for Radhakrishna Lambu, Bangalore, Karnataka:

That’s the way we come to honour our rivers!! We boast of high religious sentiments but we are so casual towards protecting icons of national pride!!

Hindus have jaded mindset, and they have slavish mindset. Now, this wil be a bit of controversy, and little bit offbeat, but I don’t reckon BRAHMINS AS HINDUS actually, end of discussion here. The only thing is that HINDUS have low self esteem, GOD only knows why are they like this?

  15. Author’s words for Radhakrishna Lambu, Bangalore, Karnataka, said:

Very well said..I know why they have low self-esteem😛😛😛 ..They cannot become bastards the way other castes have turned into; they cannot become materialistic the way other people have become in the globe..Or, if I speak in more loftier terms, the level of guilt complex in them for having given way to wrong tendencies is more than any other class of people living in the universe..That’s why they have such a low self-esteem.

    ************

    Radhakrishna Lambu, Bangalore, Karnataka, said:

You have very well understood what I wanted to say, and I also have got your message, probably, we are connected by same genealogy so . Well, to be frank, Hindus must have some guidance, as Hindus cannot do without any guidance, but, the guides are mocked in media and attacked, what Hindus can do, when mind is enslaved, and made numb, then other body part cannot work…The insult which hindus have suffered by the invaders have jaded them so much that they are not able to come up, and give it back to those, who mock them! Even V S Naipaul said the same thing, Hindu minds are jaded!!

Imperialists always make sure that the natural resource of the colony is wasted, and empires use this natural resources as raw material so that they can exports the finished goods in these colonies at exorbitant prices!!

You generally arrive first on my posts..Speak so well :-)…And always enough that others run short of words🙂 ..You have really explained the actual cause of our sufferings, and the reason why many issues never get solved..It’s a conspiracy at a global level..And we need to understand this very well to get above it…

    Author’s Response:

I must say your eyes are tuned to spot great beauty😛 A well known photography expert also came to be really impressed with this shot and said similar words like yours! ..Well, let me say something about this pic that you were actually the one who inspired me to get this click..Now don’t feel that I am unnecessarily trying to give you the credit😛😛 To prove my point I need to point out that sometimes back a similar image of yours caught my eyes on your page..That was a perfect shot which captured Canadian landscape quite well…However, I did not like that photo since it showed you in grim mode But that pic was so impressive that it stayed inside me..It’s really miraculous that I almost replicated the same shot but in Indian landscape and also minus any tragedy queen ..he..he..he

  17. Author’s words for Jayanta Bhattarcharya, News Editor, The Times of India, New Delhi:

Thanks my friend…I was looking forward to your arrival..And finally you did make your presence felt on my photo feature…Next one is related with Varanasi.. Lastly, photo features demand lots of patience during their making and so when one gets appreciation from people who really matter it really makes me feel so good…

Author’s words for Dr. Mandhata Singh, Indian Express Group ( Jansatta), Kolkata, West Bengal:

    It’s a dismal scenario…

As in my mind there’s more to say about your photos. Just one more now….I have well seen and felt with how much effort and love you did the photo features and I would like to know more, read more! For example, the guy at your favorite magazine stand …I like that pic so much. And how you at the beginning of 3rd part mentioned about souls ….It seems like a thing of being empty of souls, the roads of course looking a bit empty – UNUSUAL for India I mean. Yet it got the soul of the one, who was behind his lens. Even it isn’t of a great freaking tool, but its the soul behind it that took it and shows, what he loves and what it really meant to him! Uuuh yeah, I guess …. ….And something more.. There’s that thing in me, like some of closest friends say to me (and I have just a very few because of that) that in fact, I’m watching with the soul. Yeee …. eyes are the gate to the soul, no? Hmmmmm…. It’s not my mind speaking, actually, but always my soul. I see the world through it, than anything else. And that’s sometime but a problem!

    Author’s Response:

No..Keep seeing from the eyes of soul alone..At least that suits me so well🙂

The major problem is from Industrial pollution, creating rituals like floating dead bodies in Ganga and other problem. Arvind K Pandey if the readers like it or not, nowadays I am not interested in protecting our environment much. Reason, whether it is forest, local resources, sea, river state and corporate staking claim and we are enslaved. It is better to use and get benefit maximum. The more better local resources you have, the more govt. and corporate including criminals going to exploit you denying your right and access to local resources. Look at Bihar, Jharkhand, Africa, Brazil etc. there is widespread exploitation. Think and act wisely, otherwise, within 25-30 years, US and Europe going to attack India for our precious resources and our crony capitalist started this process well before. You can write on the wall.

    Author’s Response:

Although I found your comment bit confusing, it’s clear you do not wish that local resources should be manipulated by vested interests. However, protecting environment is a different issue. If not protected it’s going to effect us badly. Anyway, if time allows, explain your view with greater clarity…
