Julian Assange And Prince Harry: The Ideal Mediums To Understand Western Sexual Morality

Showing Prince Harry's Royal Gesture!

Showing Prince Harry’s Royal Gesture!

Very recently photographs of a completely naked Prince Harry became the hot favourite item searched in the virtual world through the search engines. The celebrity news site, which first revealed its prize possession to the world at large, stated that Prince was involved in game of “strip billiards” at his VIP suite at the Wynn Resort, Las Vegas. It all began when he intercepted some hot chicks at the hotel bar, whom he invited to his VIP suite. The main aim of celebrity news sites is to cash in on crass sensationalism, and so most of us not are really not that prepared to analyze these incidents with seriousness they actually demand. For the average mass these happenings deserve passing attention-one that’s mixed with cheap thrills. The tabloids keep serving such items, at regular intervals, to make average mass kill their boredom.

That’s the impression which is generated in haste to avoid deeper speculation. For instance, just look at the way one section of media tries to portray such issues with touch of dignity. After all, it involves a royal family. Ingrid Seward, royal biographer and editor of Majesty magazine, was quick in offering a suitable defense stating that such acts do not damage the reputation of Royal Family at all.“I don’t think it will damage the Royal Family at all,” Seward said. “He’s the Boris Johnson of the Royal Family.”  So the ultimate conclusion that gets pasted on our minds is that temporarily these acts might cause some embarrassment for the oft-spotlighted British Royal Family but all in all such acts are okay in royal circles.

So when such incidents appear in the life of a person belonging to lower echelon of society, such a person be ready to be labeled as a womanizer, a person with loose morals and etc. but when same acts get committed in the higher sections of society, the person still enjoys enough dignity to serve as “the Royal Family’s representative at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.” In fact, such incidents are great blow to the flawed Victorian ideals once prevalent in this part of the world, which never believed  that “sex is about affection, caring and warmth, and is the ultimate expression of love” and indulged in brutal suppression of niceties associated with love-making- a wonderful art form which found brilliant expression in Kamasutra of Vatsyayana.

When a section of western media was pretty busy in providing a touch of honour to the glorious acts of Prince Harry, a section of mainstream western media was baying for the blood of British MP George Galloway for offering defense in the favour of Julian Assange that “having inappropriate sex with a woman while she was asleep is not rape”. He is being severely condemned for expressing that allegations against Julian Assange “don’t constitute rape”.

“Even taken at its worst, if the allegations made by these two women were true, 100% true, and even if a camera in the room captured them, they don’t constitute rape,” he said.

“At least not rape as anyone with any sense can possibly recognise it. And somebody has to say this. Woman ‘A’ met Julian Assange, invited him back to her flat, gave him dinner, went to bed with him, had consensual sex with him, claims that she woke up to him having sex with her again. “

“It might be really bad manners not to have tapped her on the shoulder and said, ‘do you mind if I do it again?’. It might be really sordid and bad sexual etiquette, but whatever else it is, it is not rape or you bankrupt the term rape of all meaning..I don’t believe either of these women, I don’t believe either of these stories.”

Obviously, this was bound to give rise to ferocious reactions on part of various circles representing United States and other important bodies associated with this case, terming Galloway’s observations as “offensive and deeply concerning”. Without going  further into this debate whether or not Galloway was right in his observations, it’s interesting  to note that anybody who reveals the dark sides of powerful governments becomes a person with a chequered past. Julian Assange is not all wrong when he accuses US government of a witch-hunt against himself and his team. That’s the most standard pattern noticeable in almost all the nations.

Baba Ramdev: Fighting Against Corrupt System

Baba Ramdev: Fighting Against Corrupt System

The moment an individual or an organisation exposes the misdeeds of powerful governments, the respective governments order their investigative agencies to trap them under various sections of law. Isn’t the same thing taking place in India against Baba Ramdev and Team Anna trying to put the Indian government on mat over issues pertaining to corruption and black money? So it’s hard to believe in the version offered by the United States that WikiLeaks founder is trying hard to divert the attention via “wild” claims.

Interestingly, nobody can understand the whole issue better than me. Very recently, one of my popular websites operating in United Kindom and other nations was blocked in such a manner that’s its now impossible for me to access the site. No suitable explanation was offered. The real reason was to curb the growing influence of this website, which had taken tough stand on sensitive issues not in league with popular sentiments. The same website, not a long time back, received loads of compliments from various quarters but the moment it took a rigid and candid stand on critical issues, it got targeted.

Anyway, it really needs to be analyzed that why people belonging to royal background and the powerful governments remain in good books despite being found involved in corrupt practices, but at the same time individuals and organisations, involved in making world a bit better place for survival, are treated as criminals? For how long this tendency would prevail? Any answers?

London Olympics 2012: Marred By Serious Controversies

Sushil Kumar: Ensured India's Best Performance At Olympics

Sushil Kumar: Ensured India’s Best Performance At Olympics

Grappler Sushil Kumar’s
back-to-back medals at the Olympic Games-the first Indian sportsman to do so-enabled India to register its presence in a big way. It is India’s best performance at the Olympic Games. Sushil Kumar won silver medal in the 66kg free style category. He had won bronze in the previous Olympics held in China. However, one cannot ignore the recent spate of controversies which marred the London Olympics 2012. These infamous episodes have brutally hurt the sentiments of sports fans across the globe. The allegations related to biased decisions of referees have given a bad name to the 30th Olympic Games. Let’s not treat these allegations as shallow outbursts of teams lost. We need to take note of them in a serious manner in order to retain the faith of sports lovers.

Let’s not forget India’s boxer Vikas Krishan controversial defeat at the hands of Errol Spence of USA.The  AIBA overturned the result of his pre-quarterfinal bout, after five hours, following a review. The Indian contingent filed an appeal which produced no result. The IOA tried its best to drive home its point but the the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) rejected the country’s appeal.”There is no provision in the AIBA Technical and Competition Rules allowing for an appeal against the decision of the Competition Jury in relation to a Protest. The decision of the Competition Jury is final and cannot be appealed.”(CAS). In this regard, the argument of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) vice-President Tarlochan Singh is worth mentioning:”There are four different judges and they make their separate decisions. It is baffling why did none of them objected to this. Four people have given verdicts and it is wrong for USA to appeal after the decision has been given.”

Such biased decisions lower the morale of players and sports fans. The game is not on par with life and death issue, and, therefore,  it’s quite baffling to see big nations using every trick in the book to emerge as winner. It doesn’t matter to them if such a victory makes mockery of fair play. Such brazen display of unfair tendencies, all in the names of rules, brings into open the real character of such nations, who can go to any extent to gain an upper hand. The Indian contingent needs to view such murkier developments from fresh angle and come to understand that world of sports are not only regulated by excellence but also by shrewd maneuvers. It’s anybody’s guess that sports fans treat such sponsored victories less honourable than defeats keeping intact values associated with the game! The Indians need to grasp this fact that for some nations, the thing called dignity in defeat just doesn’t exist.

Vikas Krishan: Haunted By The Defeat

Vikas Krishan: Haunted By The Defeat

If that was not enough Amit Kumar’s defeat in 55 kg freestyle repachage against Bulgarian Radoslav Marinov Velikov gave rise to another controversy. Former Gold Medalist at Asian Games Satpal Singh, in an interview given to BBC, said that ‘ referees have turned highly professional. After watching the proceedings at the Games, I am pretty convinced that these referees have compromised with the values. You now cannot win the game without taking into confidence judges and referees involved with the game! The three points awarded to Bulgarian opponent, in actuality, belonged to the Indian wrestler Amit Kumar. These three points made the game slip away from the hands of Amit Kumar.”

It’s not only Indian contingent, which is feeling blue after the Games got over. Usain Bolt, who became the first athlete to win the 200 twice at the Olympics, harshly criticized Carl Lewis of United States for his doping remarks. At a press conference organized just after his historic victory in the men’s 200-metre, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt minced no words in targeting Carl Lewis., ” I’m going to say something controversial right now…. Carl Lewis, I have no respect for him…. The things he says about the track athletes is really downgrading for another athlete to say something like that. I think he’s just looking for attention, really, because nobody really talks much about him” Bolt said. One needs to recall the words of Carl Lewis to realize that Bolt’s anger is justified.”Countries like Jamaica do not have a random program, so they can go months without being tested. I’m not saying anyone is on anything, but everyone needs to be on a level playing field.” Carl Lewis made this remark in an interview given to Sports Illustrated just after Bolt’s stunning performance in Beijing Olympics.

Now this battle of words might not be directly related to the controversies that marred the London Olympics 2012 but the timing of Bolt’s furious remarks is amazing. It provides clear insight about the affairs that take place behind the scene, which ordinarily remain hidden from the eyes of average sports fans. It makes it evidently clear that how bigger nations come to treat the victories of smaller nations. And if that becomes clear, it would not be pretty difficult to understand that India’s strong protest against the biased referees at the Olympics is not simply unleashing of frustration. It reveals that games have no longer remained events, solely dominated by the performance of committed athletes, trying to attain height of excellence. They are now dominated by forces beyond the control of players. India’s protest needs to be seen in the same perspective.

The Bhagavad Gita: Gateway to ineffable peace and bliss

Lord Krishna: The Ultimate Goal

Lord Krishna: The Ultimate Goal

The messages of Krishna offer great solace to us in present times marred by confusion and disorder of worst types. I know it’s one of the easiest tasks to read the great words. It’s proper reflection and subsequent action plans that really matters in the long run.  However, such shortcomings on part of human beings do not make these words lose relevance. Even a casual approach on our part while dealing with these pearls of wisdom proves to be a meaningful gesture.

A beginning is something that really matters. It’s better to be part of the journey than remain always trapped in a statue mode. In most cases, the beginning is often in the form of casual interactions with words spoken by enlightened souls. Have you noticed that when we are journeying we often read great messages posted on walls of railway stations? You are in great hurry but even then these words manage to catch your attention. From that very moment a reflection takes place birth inside your mind which if given conscious direction on part of us could lead to miraculous transformation.

So on this occasion when the world is celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, let’s try to reconnect with Him for one more time via his messages. In lighter vein, Lord Krishna is representative of Absolute Self that’s above birth and death, and still we celebrate his birth with great fanfare. But is it that easy to keep the great charmer Krishna away from one’s life whose very name means the one who has power to attract us-the attractive one?

In the end, I wish to quote the words of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh to make us aware of the worth of messages spread in The Bhagavad Gita. According to Sri Aurobindo Ghosh one should always remember Krishna’s teaching because it ensures “perfection of action. It makes man great. It gives him the utter strength, the utter bliss which is the goal of life in the world.

The Indian boxer Vikas Krishan’s defeat at London Olympics is, in reality, victory of politics and not sports. Vikas Krishan emerged victorious in the 69 kg category bout against his American opponent Errol Spence 13-11. However, the happiness inside the Indian camp proved to be a short lived one. The review by the competition jury, under the aegis of AIBA, amended the final score 13:15 in favour of the USA. The jury members, accepting the protest, unanimously declared Errol Spence of the United States winner of the bout. India also filed the appeal later but the world governing body for the game rejected their appeal. So India’s sensational victory in the pre-quarter-final bout got doomed to nothingness.

It’s pretty unfortunate that some nations can go to any extent to gain an upper hand in battle of supremacy. The ouster of Vikas from the London Olympics proves the point that when politics gets mixed with sports, it leads to such nasty developments. Thanks to United States for letting us know that you cannot win boxing match without playing some politics! Before I have a take on the merit of the decision, I need to say that I am sure had  Indian Olympic Association as powerful as BCCI,  Board of Control for Cricket in India,  this would not have been the fate of the bout. Such happenings make it crystal clear that in present times, be its politics, cinema or sports, a certain shrewd manoeuvring, by people behind the curtain, always exists.

Imagine the team declared World Cup winner in FIFA World Cup Final match declared loser after few hours by the competition jury! Imagine another team declared winner by the ICC in the World Cup Cricket Final at Lords after few hours! The things would definitely become murkier in the world of sport if this sort of bizarre change becomes commonplace. This sort of crazy decision marks the beginning of manipulating decisions all in the name of laws! Anyway, let’s put under lens the merit of the decision. It’s strange that even those aspects were taken into consideration to make the bout in favour of USA, which generally cannot be judged by normal human way. The Competition Jury should have limited its review to those aspects only, possible for any referee to take note of them from normal human angle. To extend its limit to those angles, which no referee can intercept in normal way is absolutely nonsensical.

That’s why I feel that to award points only because “referee’s view was blocked by the boxer from the USA” is height of absurdity. It is okay to include the unnoticed fouls within the realm of review but to ensure “correct gesture” on part of referee, in name of review, totally defies logic. Why should he have awarded points when something was beyond the range of his normal vision? If that’s the case why India’s appeal got rejected on same grounds, wherein it had been stated that “our guy did not hold Spence for more than seven times. The American was guilty of holding Vikas four times according to us.”(That’s an observation on part of National coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu)

This high-voltage drama at the London Olympics reduces the difference between politics and sports. It’s really sad that hopes of bright athletes, boxers, swimmers and shooters, to name a few, get checkmated by the will of minds who feel that politics needs to go together with sports. The performers next time should not only learn the tricks involved in their respective fields, but also come to master the art of politics, if they are really interested in winning medals at Olympics!

Not failing to remember a mad singer Kishore Kumar

Miss You Always

Miss You Always

The lovers of this singer, like always, would pay customary tribute to this multifaceted singer Kishore Kumar on his birth anniversary, which falls on August 4. It’s really strange that people ignored in their own life times or, for that matter, people who get subjected to humiliation of all sorts while they are alive, attain exalted position after death. It’s pretty hard to analyze the behaviour of worldly souls. Kishore Kumar, attained legendary status during his life time. Nothing strange, after all, he was actor, singer, producer and director par excellence. He did full justice to the various roles he came to play. Let me state that I am not much impressed by folks working in world of cinema but then how can I ignore some real good souls, who provided this fascinating medium a great height? Above all, I feel it’s need of the hour to resurrect the images of people grossly misunderstood in their own life times. That’s the most ideal way to pay tribute to these great souls.

Kishore Kumar was fully aware of nuisance created in his name. That’s why he openly confessed that “world hails me as mad but I feel that world has gone mad. I wish to make it clear that I am not that mad as assumed by some sections of the society.” He was really hurt by the gossip stories, shared by the pervert minds behind his back. He always wondered what made people enter in falsehood and cheap stories about a person whom they knew nothing much other than that he was a good singer? Anyway, I must say that such gossips and stories tell less about him but revealed lot about the mindset of persons involved in them. “When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” (Wayne Dyer)

This theory that he was mad was circulated by one lady journalist, who had come to take his interview, living alone at that time. To prove his point that he was not all alone, Kishore introduced this lady journalist to trees and flowers, whom he treated as best friends. This lady presented this gesture in all wrong way suggesting that he spent long evenings with his arms entwined around them! One can imagine how simple facts get twisted to create bizarre stories about this very simple and honest person, trapped in the deceptive world of cinema. He always cursed himself that he became part of this medium, which survived on cosmetic gestures. It’s amazing that many know him as money crazy soul, forgetting the cruel gestures of producers who made him sing the song but never bothered to pay in time. When he introduced tough measures to ensure timely payment he was declared money crazy. That’s so nasty, isn’t it?

He was in many circles accused of not taking enough care of Madhubala. Well, very few knew that he was not only fully aware of her fatal disease when he came to marry Madhubala but also spent 9 long years with a bed ridden wife, taking her care in all the ways possible. All this he did amid many professional obligations, which in crazy world of movies, had to be fulfilled in time. Talking about cause of his separation with one of his wives, actor Shammi Kapoor, revealed that Kishore was not entirely wrong in divorcing his wife. After all, if the wife remained away all the time, on one pretext or another, is there any point in staying with that wife?

Let’s acknowledge his singing abilities. He was so humble could be gauged from the fact that he had no shame in accepting that he knew nothing about singing and thing like classical singing was beyond his singing ability! Contrast this remark with remark of R D Burman who said that “Kishore’s voice was the best voice for songs having classical touch”. When he was asked to sing “Mere Naina Sawan Bhado” he had refused to sing it, stating that it was a very tough song not on par with his vocal chords. Anyway, he made Lata to sing it first and then came to sing it just the way sung by Lata after rehearsing her version for many days. The famous Ghazal Singer Pankaj Udhas, throwing light on Kishore’s sense and sensibility, said,” We know Kishore as man capable of singing fun-filled songs in great style. However, Kishore also sang some very serious numbers. That’s ample proof of the fact that inside his child like heart, there were traces of deep seated sadness.” The celebrated Bhajan singer Anoop Jalota feels that such a great singer appear once every 500 years. According to him, a singer should be a good actor to do full justice to any movie song. That’s the reason why Kishore not only sang well songs picturized on him but also sang to such perfection songs picturized on other actors that it appeared as if actor himself was singing the song. The unusual range of his vocal chords could be known from the very fact that on one hand, he sang “Ek Chatur Naar“; on the other hand, we find him singing “Koi humdum na raha” with such sadness that it fills our heart with deep pain.

In the end, it would not be out of tune to say that let’s stop judging the worth of creative souls via our limited perceptions. These creative souls are often very sensitive souls, who reside on higher plane of thoughts. Our limited understanding of them and their works often leaves such soul in great pain. Instead of highlighting our ignorance, it’s better we truly honour them by taking care of their great works in a genuine way. I can hear Kishor Da singing “Hum Laut Aaayenge Tum Yun Hi Bulate Rahana” (I would surely return..Just keep on calling me back). So do you hear my calls, Kishore Da?

India in grip of darkness in the wake of worst-ever power crisis

Life Thrown Out Of Gear

Life Thrown Out Of Gear

The grids failed again in India, leading to total chaos in most of the Indian states. The way they have collapsed twice in past two days, it appears they have turned into a worn out transformer, used to sudden breakdown. Is that’s the way to ensure emergency services in this nation, eager to emerge as economic superpower? Imagine the colossal loss which the country suffers in wake of such grid failures. In fact,  they give rise to serious tragedies like miners getting trapped.

The common people used to sufferings come to suffer more. The rail passengers get stranded facing most inhuman conditions besides railways suffering huge financial loss. Industrial production suffers a major setback.  However, it’s the patients  in emergency wards who suffer the most. As per one news report, the sudden grid failure caused many deaths in various emergency wards of government hospitals. Will the government be able bring them back in this world? Well, leaders, whether they ride bicycle or elephant, stop thinking for the welfare  of people once they come into power. Inside their air conditioned chambers, the sorrows of common man just don’t exist.

The problem is that leaders and bureaucrats are more interested in setting new records of corruption instead of thinking about the welfare of people in organized way. They are totally unconcerned about the cause of electorates/citizens who secure them a place in  corridors of power. The way they react in any critical situation is pathetic. There is usual blame game followed by suspension or transfer of involved officials. Afterwards-thanks to poor public memory-the case becomes a forgotten episode. Some scapegoats are created to avoid serious backlash on part  of citizens. So a  railway gangman or signalman gets suspended, after any serious train accident, followed by order for inquiry. Thus, the matter attains perfect justice in the eyes of officials.

The schemes get introduced but the years simply passed by and the schemes get delayed. Have one really noticed the condition of power generation plants operating in Uttar Pradesh? Most of them are in dilapidated state and still we talk about ensuring a smooth balance between supply and demand! No wonder  “gross grid indiscipline” has hit most states instead of introduction of better policies for power generation, better policies to remove  “structural problems” bothering supply and pricing. Worse, the populist measures to have votes lead to additional problems.

Anyway,  proper management in the power sector can remove most of the problems like power theft. It  can ensure better distribution of power besides taking all steps to have state-of-the-art power generation centers. Lastly, the people who are used to waste electricity need to be taught a lesson. So why not bureaucrats and leaders stop having air conditioners in all the rooms of their houses/offices so that ordinary citizens can think of saving energy in their own way?
